How can I deter my dogs from digging under the fence?

We have a huge back yard, and somedays it seems that they dont care about anything other than digging under the fence.

Bored dogs dig. Most bored dogs dig around their perimeter trying to get out. Spend some time with your dogs and give them activities like going for walks on a leash and playing fetch. Just petting them isn’t enough. Provide some outdoor toys for them to play with when you’re not around. I use 5 gal water bottles, basketballs, tennis balls, chew bones, etc. Try some things and find out what they really like.

You can also give them a place to dig that is appropriate. I chose a back corner of my yard. Put a small pile of sand or dirt (big enough to dig in) where you don’t mind them digging and bury some chew bones, treats etc. and let them find them. Try to use something with a strong smell. You may have to entice them to the area at first but they’ll start spending more digging time there than around your fence.
